Team Formation Guidelines

Hillandale Sports Association is focused on skill development and fun for all players. Since we are an enrollment based program and do not conduct player evaluations, it is sometimes difficult to ensure complete balance and parity amongst all of our teams but generally speaking teams will balance out naturally. When forming teams in any league we utilize player registration information. All teams are capped at pre-designated sizes established by the HSA Board for optimal logistics.

1) Preferred Practice Night

It is very important that you select your first and second choices (in priority order). We attempt to honor your selections but at times this is not feasible based on program enrollment. If your first choice cannot be satisfied then we move to your second choice.

If there is a specific night that simply "will not work" please indicate that when asked. We promise we will not assign you to that night.

2) Sibling Requests

If siblings play in the same age group they are automatically placed in the same team unless you request otherwise. If you have siblings that play in our league (in different ages) we will do our best to make sure your requests are satisfied so please indicate that when asked (i.e. practice night).

3) Special Requests

Sometimes it is essential to be on a team with a specific friend due to transportation issues or other personal reasons. We will attempt to honor the first special request you make but cannot guarentee that every special request listed will be met. Please list those requests that are essential to your family but understand the league cannot exceed team size limits.

4) Coach Requests

We appreciate the fact that many families prefer having the same coaches for multiple seasons but when forming teams we cannot use this tool as a criteria. We do guarentee that a child will be on the same team as their parent but beyond that we do not promise coaching preference requests will be met. Please list a coach preference if you have one but understand that there is no obligation for Hillandale Sports Association to honor that request.
